What We Treat – Divorce
You don’t have to do divorce alone. Therapy can help.

Divorce is an awful experience. No one goes into marriage thinking or wanting to get divorced, but it happens for a variety of reasons. If you’ve never experienced it before or been around it, it can feel even more isolating.
Sometimes friends or family don’t know what to say or do and the entire experience can feel lonely and overwhelming.
That’s why therapy is one of the best things you can do during this time or even after. There are therapists who focus on helping abuse cases, those who have helped where there was infidelity, and there are multiple therapists who can simply help you process the experience and help you find yourself again. Because on the other side of divorce is a new life awaiting you.
Research has shown that the United States has the 6th highest divorce rate in the world and the American Psychological Association (APA) estimates that the probability of a first marriage ending in divorce is 41% in 2024. So if you’re going through a divorce or have been through one, you’re not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. Everything you’re feeling is valid and normal.
Going through a divorce is also a form of grief. You’re losing the life you thought you were going to have. Like any form of grief, there is no straight line process or timeline for how long it will take you to work through it, but therapy can help.
Divorce can also cost a lot of money and time, and if you have children, it can also be difficult, which is why at Serenium, we accept most insurance including Medicaid and offer both in person and virtual sessions in New Jersey.
Having a non-judgmental third party who is also clinically trained to help you navigate through divorce is a great piece to your overall well-being.
Going through a divorce and needing mental and emotional support doesn’t mean you have a diagnosis or a problem, it simply means you’re a human being with feelings who needs the listening ear, the support, the guidance, and the tools to get back to feeling like yourself again.
It’s also common and normal to cry a lot during your therapy sessions as it is to feel feelings of anger, hurt, sadness, and confusion. Embarrassment and feelings of shame are common during this time too and it’s okay. Therapists see it all the time from people of all genders and backgrounds and letting the emotions out is healing for the body.
You don’t need to go through the feelings of separation, divorce, or the feelings after it’s over or even co-parenting alone. We are here to help you.
Just like you workout at the gym to keep your body healthy, therapy is fitness for your brain and emotions.
At Serenium we envision a world where there is mental and emotional wellness for all and we’re on a deeper mission to provide people the mental and emotional support needed to cultivate their well-being through all of life’s events.
Serenium is a brand focused on therapy and wellness where serenity and calmness meet balance and equilibrium. A place where Mind, Body, Soul, and Emotion flow as one, into a lasting effect to feel whole and complete.
