What We Treat – Parenthood
Parenting doesn’t have to feel so difficult. Therapy can help.

According to 2023 data from the US Department of Health and Human Services, 33% of parents report high levels of stress in the past month compared to 20% of other adults. 48% of parents say that most days their stress is completely overwhelming compared to 26% among other adults.
Being a parent can be one of the most rewarding things in the world. The loving moments, the growth moments, the fun, the joy, and the sense of family can be some of the best moments of your life as a parent. However, raising children can be an added stress and challenge at times.
It could be simply finding time for yourself when it feels guilty to do so because you are told to put your kids first. It could be trying to manage your time with the needs of your children, spouse, job, and friends.
There’s also times where your child is going through their own journey of discovery and you’re overwhelmed trying to navigate that with them, from the terrible twos, to puberty, to teenage independence, into young adulthood.
You’re a parent for life, so even sometimes your adult children may cause stress if they’re living with you or potentially dealing with a mental health issue, disability, addiction, or simply going through a hard time.
Being a parent doesn’t have to mean, and shouldn’t mean, you don’t put your own health first. Taking care of yourself is equally as important plus, your mental and emotional health are integral parts of your overall wellness.
Speaking with a therapist individually or as a family doesn’t mean you have a diagnosis, it simply means you’re a human being who needs someone to listen, care, and help guide you where you need support on your own mental and emotional health journey.
However, this is why therapy can be a helpful next step. If you’re feeling a little off, or like something’s not right, or parenting has been feeling extra challenging lately, it’s okay and normal to speak with a therapist.
It doesn’t need to feel scary. It simply means you’re a human being who is going through an experience and needs help understanding it, navigating through it, and gaining tools to better improve your life going forward.
Just like you workout at the gym to keep your body healthy, therapy is fitness for your brain and emotions.
