What We Treat – Moving Transitions
Moving is a big change, therapy can help you adapt faster.

Moving can be exciting with new opportunities, new people, new experiences, and even a fresh start in a brand new state or country. Still, moving can still cause a lot of stress, anxiety, or sadness. In fact, more than half (55%) of movers said they experienced stress and 48% claimed to have anxiety during relocation, according to a 2021 Zillow study.
Moving means leaving behind who you were or are. It changes the connection you have to your friends, community, and even family. It requires you to make new connections and still find a way to stay connected to those you care about from the area you’re leaving. Even if you’re moving for a new job, a new relationship, or for a change which are all positive things, changing your work, your connections, your location, and relearning a new way of life is challenging mentally and emotionally. In fact, it’s normal to feel a mix of feelings of happiness, excitement, and joy as well as fear, confusion, and a sense of overwhelm.
Just like any other life change, moving takes time to prepare for, do, and eventually adjust to once you make the move. It doesn’t matter if it’s a move to college, a temporary move for a few months, a big family move, or one that happens often because of a military job or spouse. The feelings that come up with them are valid and common.
Therapy can help you navigate those emotions and help you to clarity and process the change at a pace that feels less overwhelming and doable.
At Serenium we envision a world where there is mental and emotional wellness for all and we’re on a deeper mission to provide people the mental and emotional support needed to cultivate their well-being through all of life’s events.
